VEOS

Platform for PC-based simulation of models and ECU network communication

VEOS is a PC-based simulation platform for electronic control unit (ECU) software validation in many development stages.

High Quality Simulation Results

VEOS enables integration tests without hardware but performs just as reliably as tests with hardware.

Open Platform

Integrate different artifacts and tools into an overall simulation.

SIL-HIL Transition

Coupling VEOS with HIL-simulator for hybrid simulation environments and reuse of artifacts

Flexibility

VEOS offers automated workflow and the ability to handle different infrastructures.

What is VEOS?

VEOS is the dSPACE platform for PC-based simulation of models and virtual electronic control unit (V-ECU) and network communication. It lets you simulate a multitude of different models – from function models to networks of virtual ECUs, bus systems, and vehicle models – even in early phases of development.

VEOS runs on standard PCs, which gives function developers, software architects, and ECU testers a variety of valuable options for SIL testing during the early project phases. By Dockerization, it can be distributed in the cloud for parallel test execution.

Application Areas

As PC-based simulation platform, VEOS promotes SIL testing for the development of electronic control units (ECUs):

  • Simulating a wide range of different models, such as function models, Functional Mock-up Units (FMUs), virtual ECUs (V-ECUs), and vehicle models, in the early development stages independent of any specific simulation hardware.

  • For multi-model scenarios, VEOS supports importing, connecting, and running any number of function and plant models based on Simulink® or Functional Mock-up Interface (FMI), thereby extending the scope of the applications.

  • VEOS is particularly suitable for carrying out integration tests as it offers a wide range of integration options, a distributed simulation and scaling, e.g. in the cloud.

Be Inspired by the Capabilities of VEOS

Find out how VEOS supports you in setting up your software-in-the-loop simulations.

Platform independence becomes an important requirement, for server and cloud applications as well as the working spaces of developers. One step towards this desired flexibility is software-in-the-loop testing with VEOS on Linux, as demonstrated in this video.

VEOS enables you to validate simulated ECU networks of Linux and adaptive AUTOSAR virtual control units together with virtual twins of classic C-Code-based V-ECUs.

Software-in-the-Loop (SIL) testing with the powerful dSPACE solution for PC- and cloud-based simulation lets you simulate and test software functions or complete V-ECU networks – in real-time or even faster, and highly parallel.

Key Benefits & Features of VEOS

High Quality Simulation Results

  • Sophisticated environment models can be integrated with virtual ECUs to validate complex controller strategies or simulate and test entire virtual vehicles.
  • Regardless of the content, the simulation system remains fully synchronized and the results are reproducible.
  • Support of automotive Ethernet, CAN, and LIN bus communication, including bus-specific timing effects, without any additional hardware.
  • VEOS and the dSPACE toolchain are ISO 26262 certified for validating safety-relevant automotive functions.
  • Synchronized debugging of the source code during simulation.

Open Platform
